About Us
How FabricAID Began
FabricAID was born out of a moment of realization. Co-founder Omar Itani discovered that the clothing his family had been recycling to their building’s concierge was going to waste—not because it wasn’t needed, but because it didn’t fit the recipient’s needs. This sparked a deeper question: How can we create a system that ensures recycled clothes reach those who truly need them in a dignified and effective way?
In December 2016, Omar launched a small social media experiment. He collected clothes from friends, sorted them carefully, and delivered items that disadvantaged families specifically needed and chose. The response was overwhelming. Within weeks, his home was overflowing with bags of recycled clothing, and the seeds of FabricAID were planted.
What began as a personal initiative quickly grew into a movement, driven by the belief that every piece of clothing deserves a second life and every person deserves the dignity of choice.

What We Do
Sourcing Clothes
Turning generosity into impact.
We collect recycled clothes through our conveniently located bins and partnerships with organizations and individuals. This ensures a continuous flow of items ready to make a difference in the lives of those in need.
Sorting
Careful sorting for purposeful use.
Every item we receive is meticulously sorted into specific classifications, then cleaned in our dedicated laundry facility. This ensures that each piece is ready to serve its next purpose—whether it’s upcycled, resold, or redistributed.
Upcycling
Innovation meets sustainability.
We transform scrap items and wasted materials into unique, fashion-forward pieces. Our upcycled designs reduce waste while creating elegant, functional, and eco-conscious fashion statements.
Dignified Shopping Experience
Empowering communities with choice.
Through Souk Al Khlanj, we provide vulnerable communities access to affordable, high-quality clothing in a dignified shopping environment that respects their individuality and preferences.
Unique Vintage Clothing
Timeless fashion for modern tastes.
At Second Base, we curate and sell hand-picked, high-quality vintage and second-hand clothing. These pieces celebrate the charm of timeless styles while promoting sustainable shopping habits.
Education and Employment
Creating opportunities, changing lives.
We teach sewing skills to beneficiaries, equipping them with valuable knowledge and securing employment opportunities. This transformative process empowers individuals to discover new career paths and improve their lives.
